Instructor: Steve Wildy
This ain't the Wild Wild West... welcome to Mad Wild Bordeaux!
Throw everything you thought you knew about first and second growths out the window as we buckle in for an evening to discover the more compelling aspects of this famed region. Recently Bordeaux has become home to some hidden gems – unique, lesser-known varieties and artisanal winemakers who are pushing the boundaries of tradition.
We are thrilled to welcome Steve Wildy from Cloche Wine Co. for this class. Steve is a longtime Philadelphia wine aficionado, having acted as General Manager at Vetri. As the Vetri Family grew in size, a love for wine led to Steve’s transition to Beverage Director and again to a Director of Operations.
Steve was recognized as one of Food & Wine’s 2015 “Sommeliers of the Year” and nominated by the James Beard Foundation as a semi-finalist in the category of “Outstanding Wine, Beer, or Spirits Professional” in the same year. He previously oversaw the Vetri front-of-house team that received consecutive “Outstanding Service” finalist nominations in 2008, 2009, and 2010. In 2016 he was named a laureate of the highly competitive La Paulee Scholarship program celebrating education and ambassadorship of the fine wines of Burgundy.
Steve has now taken his talents to Cloche Wine Co, a Pennsylvania-based imports and distribution company he now operates alongside Michael Madrigale. The two came together as sommeliers who are passionate about creating memorable experiences through wine. The two have worked tirelessly to establish themselves as trusted resources for fine wines, and are happiest when finding guests and clients the perfect bottle. It is an absolute delight to have him jumping into Bordeaux with us at Tria to share seven off-beaten-path Bordeaux selections from his stunning portfolio. Expected the unexpected!
Come with an open mind and palate. As always tasty Tria snacks will be served and we encourage you to join us for Tria's Happier Hour, from 4 to 6 pm before class!
Bottles will be available for sale after the class.
