The islands you fantasize about visiting make fantasy-worthy wines, too!
Instructors: Lauren Harris and Sarah Netter
If you'll be sweating your way through August in Philadelphia instead of lounging beachside on an exotic island, we've got you covered: come to our Fantasy Island Wines Class.
Island wines is a thing - the term refers to wines from southern European islands, such as Sardinia, Sicily, Corsica and others, that are fresh, flavorful and fun.
While each island has its own distinct terroir, climate, and indigenous grapes, the inherently austere growing conditions yield flavorful wines because the hardy vines vigorously soak up minerals and channel all their energy into fruit production. The temperature shifts brought on by the proximity to the sea produce high-acidity thirst quenchers that the wine gods intended for summer enjoyment. Ricardo Montalbán would have loved this class.*
