Move over Bordeaux. Step aside Burgundy. Small-but-mighty Jura is in the house.
Instructor: Etinosa Emokpae
Nestled between Burgundy and the Swiss border, France's Jura wine region is a hidden gem boasting a landscape of wooded hillsides and the picturesque Jura Mountains. Distinct from its Swiss counterpart, Jura is a small-but-mighty region gaining recognition for its unique and diverse wines. Renowned for the distinctive Vin Jaune (yellow wine), Jura cultivates indigenous grape varieties like Savagnin, Poulsard, Trousseau along with some Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This cool climate area produces a broad spectrum of wines, from reds to sparklings. Let's embark on a delightful exploration of Jura wine, uncovering the idiosyncratic styles of Domaine Rolet, a revered producer in this enchanting region.
In this session we'll explore spicy complex whites, ethereal reds, the famous Vin Jaune and even a sparkler. To make this special class even more so, we are fortunate to be joined by guest instructor Etinosa Emokpae of superstar importer, Skurnik Wine & Spirits. Eti is one of our favorite Philly wine professionals and has previsouly served as Beverage Director at Walnut Street Cafe and Wine Director at Friday Saturday Sunday before joining Skurnik.
