Southern Stars: Exploring Southern Italy

Southern Italy 3.png

Explore wines from The Boot of Italy. Not as famous as their northern cousins, but they're bursting with personality and offer great value.

Wines from Piedmont and Tuscany garner more attention, but our southern stars are bold, full-bodied, and simply excellent. Southern Italy has abundant warmth and sunshine, providing agreeable conditions for grapes that produce big, satisfying wines. This region has been producing wine for over 4000 years. When the Phoenicians arrived in 2000 B.C., the wine industry was already a thing. Indeed, the Greeks dubbed southern Italy “The Land of Wine” and the Romans delighted in wines from the Campania region. Explore the ankle, toe and heel of the boot (Calabria, Puglia, Campania) and open your eyes to this ancient-yet-exciting wine region. This class will be taught by Tria alumnus and all-around great guy Seth Biederman, who now sells vino to Tria from the The Wine Merchant, importers of excellent wines.
