Take a mini-trip to Emilia-Romagna and taste a range of (mostly red) wines from a century-old family winery that's not stuck in the past.
La Stoppa is a LONG established estate, founded over a century ago. Elena Pantaleoni, the winemaker, took over the family estate in 1993, helped by Giulio Armani, she rapidly guided the production toward organic farming and the local grapes of Emilia-Romagna's history. The vineyards had previously been planted with well known international grapes but this area wasn't best suited for them. Red wines from Barbera and Bonarda, fascinating skin-fermented white wine and even a dessert wine in the mix this time. (mostly reds) Their approach to bottling is patient and thoughtful - they wait for the wines to be ready before bottling and releasing for sale to the public. We'll taste vintages all the way back to 2002.
