Former Tria managers and current wine import specialists Mariel Wega and Sean Faeth face off in a friendly four-round competition.
So many Tria alumni have moved on to notable careers in the wine, cheese and beer worlds. For this class/competition we welcome back two of them: Mariel Wega and Sean Faeth, former Tria managers who now represent prominent wine importers.
Mariel and Sean once served wine at Tria, but now Tria buys wine from them! For their reunion, they are tasked with teaching and tasting you on four distinct wine styles – and pouring their finest examples to win your favor. We'll let you be the judge.
Mariel Wega After Tria, Mariel journeyed one block south to become wine director at a.kitchen+bar, leading it to be named one of America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants by Wine Enthusiast magazine, and landing her a spot on the Best New Sommeliers of 2016 by Wine & Spirits magazine. Mariel is now the PA sales lead for Skurnik Wines & Spirits.
Sean Faeth Sean started on the cheese side; pre-Tria Sean was the Maître Fromager at Artisanal Bistro in New York and at Tria he ran our cheese program without the fancy French title. When Sean subsequently joined the management team at Talula's Garden he segued into wine bigtime and now is Director of Sales and Operations for The Artisan's Cellar.
