France's Hidden Corner: The Unsung Wines of South West France

South West2.jpg

Do you dream of Bordeaux or Burgundy but live on a Franzia budget? This is the class for you.

Instructor: Seth Biederman

Wine lovers rightly love the romanticized wines of superstar French wine regions Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne. Finer wines from these regions are costly, the result of too many people chasing a fixed supply of excellence. Shh! We're going to tour the nation's perhaps least famous wine region, South West France, tucked away between the Pyrénées Mountains and Spain to the south, Bordeaux to the north, and the Atlantic Ocean on the west. Explore earthy reds like Marcillac and Cabardès beside unique whites from the Jurançon region. Learn about Madiran, the wine behind The Red Wine Diet. These wines have been enjoyed by locals for centuries and are just now finding their way to American oenophiles. Expand your wine world and your bank account by enjoying these terrific wine values before everyone is in on the secret.

Instructor: Seth Biederman is a former Tria Rittenhouse General Manager (he left on good terms!) who is now a consummate wine professional at the esteemed Philly-based wine import company, The Wine Merchant. Seth has taught classes as both the original Tria Fermentation school and our new virtual rendition.
